Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important representative commented the vandalism left him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
