Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his first title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Success also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced service.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
